Israel did not exist until 1948.
If there was something like a Jewish nation before that, it was during the ancient Egyptian period. And the Egyptians did destroy that nation.
However nobody was ever able to eradicate the complete Jewish Religion. And as stated by Lsmith for some reason they always seem to piss off people enough to want them dead.
