Well, after a 5 day journey, we're finally at our base now. I can't say where. The trip wasn't nearly as bad as our schedule is now. 12 hours a day, 7 hours a week is killer! We work in what we call a "van", but it's more like a semi trailer, except about half the size. Pretty much everything in here is trashed (we have a radar, some radios, weather sensors, and a lot of computers), and there's only two of us to fix it all. I think it's gonna be a long year!
All of the Iraqis I've met have been really friendly. They work in our chow hall, the PX, drive busses and stuff like that. It's even pretty common to hear them talking to each other in English, which I thought was pretty weird. I haven't seen one of them who didn't seem to like us, but they may just be happy to have decent jobs, I don't know.
It seems like we're stuck in that movie Groundhog Day, everyday is pretty much the same. Get up, shower, eat, work, eat, go home, sleep, lather, rinse, and repeat. We really don't have much free time at all, which may actually make the time go by faster.
Anyway, I'd better get back to work. Hopefully I'll have more of an update next time.
